GDPR – Statement Regarding How Personal Data Is Stored and Used by GS Computing

The General Data Protection Regulations – A new EU Regulation that specifies how businesses like GS Computing must deal with your personal data.

GS Computing does not process your data in any way and does not release it to any third party, your data held by GS Computing is only used to allow us to keep in touch with you (e.g. Name, Address and Telephone numbers). Where I manage or maintain your computer systems I may hold the user names and passwords needed for me to access and manage or maintain those systems.  Additionally I may keep details of your email and Microsoft accounts, so that if I have to reinstall your computer system after a computer failure or virus attack I can do that.

In all cases any data I hold will have been obtained from you in the first place, I never get information about you from any other location and without your permission.

I do not hold any data that you have not specifically given your authority for me to hold.

I do also retain copies of email and documentary correspondence I have had with you and any file based data like this is kept in my secure encrypted mail and file Systems.

In the GDPR menu on this site I have three forms that you can use to:

  1. Request me to send you what information I currently have stored for you on my system.
  2. Request deletion of all or some of that data that I hold.
  3. Set up your Contact Preferences – Here you can specify the methods by which I contact you. (Currently I would only ever contact you by email or phone, I never contact people in a work capacity via social media unless you have told me that is your preferred method of contact for business communication). However under the GDPR rules you can now specify how I contact you going forward.

I take great care with my client’s data and take all steps to keep it safe and inaccessible to anyone outside of GS Computing. GS Computing is comprised of me Graham Sivill and my wife Lynn Sivill who handles my invoicing and sending out my Christmas email cards.

If I become aware that my data security has been breached I undertake to notify the relevant authorities and will make all my clients aware that their personal data has been stolen from my systems. If you as a client become aware that your data may have been breached then please contact me by phone on 01886-888942 or 07771-664208 (if you get no answer on my land line) immediately, so that I can disconnect my systems from the internet and start actions to stop the breach. I would like to point out that GS Computing has been in business since 2003 and has never had any loss of confidential data in that period.

I do not retain any information relating to my clients on this website.  I do not hold any information to do with medical conditions etc. My only purpose in holding your personal information is to contact you and to carry out the work you have asked me to do for you and to maintain my own records of our dealings in order to invoice you correctly.
